Faecal incontinence is a distressing and debilitating condition that can be socidally and personally incapacitating. The estimated prevalence of faecal incontinence in the general population ranges from 1 to 17%. Its causes are

-congenital cause, e.g., spina bifid and imperforate anus

-traumatic causes, e.g., road traffic accidents and pelvic operations
